On Sunday 18th September, 2016 the congregation of St Thomas’ remained in church following Morning Prayer to share in refreshments and to witness the Vicar, the Rev. Jackie Carter, presenting Mr Bill Ellis with a framed Certificate from the Bishop in recognition of his many, many years of service to the parish.  As well as acting as Churchwarden, both as Vicar’s Warden and as People’s Warden, Bill has looked after the Village Hall and the Churchyard, and has raised considerable funds by running both the “100 Club” and the regular “Bingo” evenings; he has also been the organiser of the raffles which coincide with the Summer and Christmas Fayres, and has been a prolific seller of the tickets!  Both literally and figuratively the parish owes Bill an enormous debt of gratitude.

It was a joy, too, that so many of Bill’s family were present to share in the occasion, and special thanks, and a bouquet of flowers, were given to Bill’s wife, Gwenda, who has supported him so much through the years.  We send our thanks and appreciation to them both.
