Saint Thomas Church, Penycae is a Parish of the Church in Wales, Diocese of St Asaph, and a member parish of the Deanery of Llangollen.

In the sprawling Welsh village of Penycae, situated on Ruabon Mountain overlooking the Dee Valley and The Cheshire Plain, this beautiful little church was built in the early English style in Gardden Lodge stone which was supplied by Messrs. Tomley and Daniels.

Its foundation stone laid by Lady Williams Wynn on 19th November, 1877. The church was roofed with slates with stained and varnished wood interior and finished with a bell turret over the chancel arch. The land was given by Sir Watkins Williams Wynn and the builders were a local firm Messrs. Phennah & Davies from Rhostyllen.

The total cost of the building was £1,800.00. The building was consecrated on Friday 6th December, 1878. It is an attractive church was a steep, high roof, low walls and quite a distinctive steeple. Inside it has a nave and a broad chancel paved with ornamental tiles with two steps. A further two steps lead up to the altar and one on the north side.

The Church will accommodate 200 worshippers. Harvest Window 2008
